Spot Beam: Real Reach, Not Marketing Hype
The spot beam throws a tight, usable beam farther than I realistically need for daily use. It’s not the typical “claims 400 yards” nonsense. In real conditions it hits signs, trails, and reflective surfaces a couple hundred meters out. That range makes it practical for property checks, camping, or just finding an address at night.
Flood Beam: Work Light in Your Pocket
The flood mode illuminates a wide area without washing out the center. It’s what I use when repairing equipment, unloading the car at night, or working around the house. A magnetic tail and flat body make it easy to mount or brace for hands-free use. It’s not trying to blind you; it’s actually usable light.
UV Output: Perfect Wavelength for Uranium Glass
This was the feature that pushed me to buy it. The ArkPro’s UV emitter sits in the proper wavelength range to actually activate fluorescence in Uranium glass, including pieces with low uranium content that cheaper 395nm UV lights barely wake up. If you collect UV-reactive antiques, minerals, or glassware, this light is in a different league. It doesn’t just “kind of glow.” It reveals. Laser: Situational, But Worth Having
The green laser is a nice touch. I use it for cool effects on a foggy night, pointing out items in the distance, and occasionally playing with the cat. It’s not a toy, but it’s genuinely helpful to have integrated instead of adding another item to the bag. The dual brightness levels make it a little safer to use indoors, but you should still never point a laser at the eyes of a living thing.
Build and Carry
It’s slim, pocketable, and shaped like something designed by people who actually use tools. The clip is solid; it works in the pocket or on a hat brim. Build quality is what Olight has built its reputation on: tight tolerances, clean machining, and a finish that doesn’t look like it was spray-painted in a garage.
Colors include black, OD green, orange, and a couple limited finishes that come and go. I went with black to keep it simple, but the orange is probably the practical choice if you drop tools often.
Charging and Battery
USB-C and magnetic charging. I plug it in at my desk or snap the magnetic charger on in the car. No drama. No proprietary nonsense you need to drag around. Runtime is what I expect for the output levels; if you think you’ll get days of heavy use on turbo out of any pocket light, you’re living in marketing fantasy land.
Price
The price floats, but you can expect to see it roughly in the $100–$130 range depending on color and availability. For what it replaces (a UV light, a standard EDC flashlight, a work light, and a laser pointer), it’s worth it.
Verdict
